Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the orange and white clad Tokyo Tower is just as iconic. It even has its own emoji when you’re sending a message. Tokyo is brimming with landmarks and attractions, but this one built back int he 50s still stands out, with its common presence in various Japanese pop culture and shows.
Originally built as a commutations tower, its largely a tourism and recreational site, with the comms work now mainly relocated to the modern Tokyo Skytree. Though it may not be anywhere near as high as the mentioned Skytree, Tokyo Tower still retains it’s charm. The observation platform isn’t way up in the clouds, so you actually get a rather detailed look at the skyline. It’s easier to make out what you can see from this vantage point.
The glass floor offering the look down towards the orange steelworks is a great spot for some pictures, with a cost little café and gift shop, there are few things to do to spend some time here. On a nice sunny day, the city looks spectacular. There is also a shopping complex at the base of the tower, which we didn’t have time to explore, but it’s also another opportunity for a break and a spot of lunch. The roads and parks surrounding the tower are worth exploring, with the tower proving a great backdrop to your pictures.
