Gems of Vienna, Belvedere Palace

Vienna is often seen as one of the most beautiful cities in not just Europe, but the entire world. The Austrian capital is filled with stunning architecture and open spaces. One of the most popular, lies in the south, the grounds of Belvedere Palace.

This complex consisting of two baroque palaces, the subtle Lower Belvedere, and the far more grand Upper Belvedere. While visiting the interiors of these palaces comes at a small admission fee, the vast gardens and surrounding areas are free to enter and explore. The walk between the Upper and Lower palaces is dotted with statues and topiary. The day I went was extremely windy, so a lot of dust was thrown up from the paths, luckily the weather decided to calm down with blue skies shining by the end!

If you need a break, there is a sit down café within the Upper palace, for a quick rest. Depending on which side you entered the grounds from, the reflection pond will either be the first, or last stop on your visit.
