Head over to the west side of Manhattan into the stylish neighbourhood of Chelsea, you’ll find one of the most distinctive parks on the island. Leading up the to trendy Hudson Yards, The High Line is an area of recreation, built on an old railway line, elevated above the ground. Weaving its way between the fashionable high rises and flats flanking it.

As the parkway stretches out for almost 1.5 miles, there are various points from which you can jump on. I got off at 23rd St station, and made my way west, towards the Hudson River. It took me around 20 minutes to get there, and it was a bit tricky to find one of the stairs dotted along the railway to gain access up the the path. It’s not really sign posted the best, so you’ll beed to keep your eyes open, but soon enough, you’ll find yourself up on this delightful garden hidden in the concrete jungle.

New York was boiling while I was there, so there was plenty of buzz in the neighbourhood, and its easy it’s to see why, the renovated pathway offers several great vantage points along its route, peeking out between the flats onto the streets below. The backdrop though, is dominated by the striking 30 Hudson Yard, home to the highest open air observation deck in the west, Over the Edge.

As you work you’re way up north, along the snaking track, you’ll notice your surroundings getting more up market and glamorous, you’ll eventually end up at Hudson Yards. There’s quite a bit to do here, but make sure the walk through the mesmeric Vessel, the bronze clad honeycomb structure is one of the more eccentric works of architecture in the city! If you prefer some retail therapy, the luxury Hudson Yards mall is there to calm those urges! The High Line may be a bit of a trek to get to, but on a beautiful summers there, its simply stunning.
