On Film: Wat Chalong

Nestled in the heart of Phuket, Wat Chalong stands as a symbol of peace, spirituality, and cultural richness. As the largest and most revered Buddhist temple on the island, this iconic site draws visitors from across the world, eager to immerse themselves in its serene ambiance and historical significance. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a spiritual seeker, or simply a curious traveler, Wat Chalong offers a captivating glimpse into Thai traditions and religious practices.

This was our second stop on our day trip across the island. Wat Chalong sits on the edge of Phuket’s Old Town, but since we were coming from the Big Buddha, the drive took only about 15 minutes.

As soon as you step onto the temple grounds, a sense of calm washes over you, even in the middle of the day. Our driver was fantastic and dropped us off close to the main temple, where the golden details shimmered beautifully in the afternoon sun.

Slip off your shoes and step inside this magnificent temple. Each floor is adorned with intricate statues and breathtaking paintings, so take your time to soak it all in. As you ascend the stairs, you’ll eventually reach the rooftop—where, on a sunny day like ours, the panoramic views are simply stunning.
