Cafe Corner : Cheong Su Dang, Seoul

Nestled in the heart of Seoul, Cheong Su Dang is more than just a café—it’s an experience. With its traditional Korean hanok-style architecture, serene ambiance, and beautifully plated desserts, this hidden gem feels like stepping into a tranquil retreat away from the city’s hustle.

This has to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing cafés I’ve ever visited—and the best part? We stumbled upon it completely by accident! We were in the Hongdae neighbourhood to check out the striking 2D art café, Greem Café, but arrived too early. With time to kill, we decided to take a walk—and luckily, we came across this hidden gem.

At first glance, Cheong Su Dang doesn’t immediately stand out as a café. Its exterior is beautifully covered in greenery, with the soothing sound of flowing water filling the air. It almost feels more like the entrance to a tranquil hotel lobby than a coffee shop. But our curiosity got the best of us, and we decided to step inside—and we’re so glad we did!

The interior is a stunning blend of traditional Korean wooden architecture and serene ambiance, with a calming waterfall feature adding to its charm. The lower floors offer cozy, floor-seating arrangements, perfect for a peaceful retreat. Meanwhile, the upper floor has a more modern touch, with a garden-like setting that feels just as inviting.

We ordered some cakes and cold drinks and made our way upstairs. Since we arrived right after opening, the café was still quiet, giving us plenty of time to take photos and wander around. As you can see from the pictures, this place is truly breathtaking. If you’re ever in Seoul, Cheong Su Dang is a must-visit for any café lover!
