On Film: Cruising the Tagus

The Tagus River is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula, beginning its journey in central Spain and flowing westward toward the Atlantic Ocean. It’s at this meeting point with the ocean that you’ll find Lisbon, beautifully nestled along its wide banks. The mighty river stretches for miles and offers some of the most stunning views of the Portuguese capital.

We had booked a fantastic sunset cruise, departing from the nearby town of Belém. As we sailed along the Tagus, we passed by several iconic landmarks. The striking Monument to the Discoveries and the enormous Ponte 25 de Abril bridge were among the highlights before we reached the heart of Lisbon’s waterfront.

I think these might be some of the most impressive photos I’ve ever taken—just take a look!

Pro tip: It gets quite windy and chilly out on the river, especially in the evening, so be sure to wrap up warm!
