Prague, the capital of Czechia, has always been high on my travel list. There is something irresistible about the gothic charm of cobblestone streets and the forest of historic towers that rise above the city. This timeless allure made Prague a must visit destination for me.
The flight from London was quick and easy, just under two hours, and we had arrived. Václav Havel Airport Prague, the main international airport, is located about 30 minutes west of the city center. Fortunately, the airport was quiet on this Tuesday morning, and we breezed through in no time. Ride share apps like Uber in Prague are very convenient, and with one tap on my phone, we were on our way to the city.

Where to Stay in Prague
Our accommodation for the trip was at The Botanist by Adrez, a newly refurbished luxury apartment complex located right in the heart of Prague Old Town. These nature-themed apartments were beautiful, modern, and ideally situated for sightseeing. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for central and stylish places to stay in Prague. Although the standard check-in time was 3 p.m., a quick phone call to the front desk got us into a suite early, allowing us to relax and freshen up before heading out to explore. Day 1 in Prague: Iconic Landmarks and Local Delights
Since we had two full days to explore, we decided to take it easy on day one while still seeing some of the best places in Prague.
Our first stop was the famous Old Town Square, one of the top attractions in Prague. The centerpiece of the square is the Astronomical Clock Tower, a true architectural gem that draws visitors from all over the world. From there, we wandered through the narrow medieval streets, each turn offering new sights and surprises.
While walking around, I tried Trdelník, also known as Chimney Cake. This sweet dough cone filled with soft-serve ice cream was absolutely delicious and completely new to me. If you’re a foodie in Prague, this treat is a must-try.
Visiting the National Museum and Wenceslas Square
Next on our itinerary was the stunning National Museum in Prague, located just a few metro stops away. The museum’s grand façade and impressive collection of exhibits made it one of my favorite places to visit in Prague. Inside, we discovered everything from Czech historical artefacts to geological exhibits and even dinosaur skeletons. It was easy to lose ourselves in the displays for over an hour.
After the museum, we took a leisurely walk down Wenceslas Square, a vibrant boulevard known for its shops, cafes, and local energy. We made a quick stop back at the apartment for a short rest before heading out for the evening.

Evening Views from Charles Bridge
As the sun began to set, we headed to one of the most scenic and romantic spots in the city, Charles Bridge. This historic stone bridge, lined with baroque statues and vintage lanterns, offers panoramic views of Prague Castle, the river, and the city skyline. Walking across as the lights came on felt like stepping into a fairy tale. We even overheard a local guide mention that scenes from Mission Impossible were filmed right there. The more you know!

Dinner in Prague Old Town
By now we were feeling hungry, and we stumbled upon a cozy little pizzeria called Laboratorio Della Pizza. The food was amazing, we enjoyed a perfectly cooked pizza and a bowl of flavourful green pea soup. It was the perfect way to end a packed but wonderful day in Prague. After dinner, we hopped in an Uber and returned to our apartment, ready to rest up for a full day of exploring ahead.
