On Film: Gyeongbokgung Palace 🇰🇷

Seoul is home to several grand palaces, but just a short walk from Bukchon Hanok Village lies the most magnificent of them all, Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Built in 1395, this grand palace was the main royal residence of the Joseon Dynasty. Walking through its wide courtyards and ornate gates, I could almost hear the whispers of kings, queens, and scholars who once roamed these same paths.

One of the highlights was witnessing the changing of the guard ceremony at the main gate. The colourful hanbok uniforms, traditional drums, and ceremonial precision were mesmerising.

I also wandered through the Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, surrounded by a tranquil lotus pond, and explored the elegant Hyangwonjeong Pavilion with its charming arched bridge.

This is where I captured some of my most stunning photos, on a bright blue summer’s day, with Bukhansan Mountain rising majestically in the background. The contrast between the palace’s timeless architecture and the natural beauty of the distant peaks was unforgettable. Make sure you don’t skip this part of the grounds, it’s a must-see!
