Why Busan Tower Should Be on Your Korea Itinerary

Located on the opposite side of the country, Busan may seem like quite a journey from Seoul. However, thanks to Korea’s efficient high-speed train network, it’s perfectly possible to explore the city on a day trip.

We made the most of it by catching the first train out of Seoul, giving ourselves nearly a full day to wander Busan’s hills and beaches.

If you plan a day trip, be prepared to manage your time carefully—Busan has a lot to offer. From seaside strolls to colorful hillside villages like Gamcheon, you’ll want to prioritize your must-sees.

One of the best places to start, conveniently located near Busan Station, is Busan Tower in Yongdusan Park. Standing 120 meters tall, the tower offers sweeping views of the city: from the bustling docks and sandy beaches to the green hills rolling into the horizon.

Although you can walk from the station, taking the metro to Jungang (the closest stop) will save time. The tower may be the highlight, but don’t rush through the park itself. Scattered with statues, shrines, and shaded paths, Yongdusan Park is a charming destination in its own right.

The tower itself is simple, don’t expect endless attractions inside. But once you reach the top, the view more than makes up for it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the panorama is breathtaking: the deep blue sea and working shipyards on one side, the colorful rooftops and sleek skyscrapers of modern Korea on the other. The surrounding green mountains tie it all together, especially on a clear afternoon when the sky turns bright blue.

For its central location, affordable entry, and stunning views, Busan Tower is a must-add to your itinerary.
