Why Namsan Park?

Rising gently above the city, Namsan Park feels like Seoul’s very own green retreat. Just beyond the buzzing streets and neon signs, you’ll find winding trails, peaceful spots to pause, and panoramic viewpoints that give you a front-row seat to the city’s vibrant mix of past and present. As the largest public park in Seoul, it’s an absolute must visit for anyone wanting a break from the urban rush. And keep your eyes peeled, the striking N Seoul Tower at the top of the park will definitely catch your attention, beckoning you to explore even further!

Namsan Park is always there in the background!

How do get there

Namsan Park is vast, and thanks to its central location, there are several ways to make your way up to the park. Since we were staying nearby, we approached from Myeongdong. Your first goal should be to find the Namsan Oreumi Elevator, a free, slanted lift that offers stunning views of Myeongdong’s high rises as it slowly carries you toward the Namsan Cable Car station.

From there, you’ll want to head toward the iconic N Seoul Tower, which sits at the peak of the park. Unless you’re looking for a cardio intense hiking route, the cable car is the easiest and most scenic option, gliding up the lush mountainside. A return ticket costs 15,000 won.

N Seoul Tower

Standing over 200 metres tall, N Seoul Tower is an unmissable landmark on Seoul’s skyline, you’ll spot it from almost anywhere in the city. From the end of the cable car, you can enter the tower and head up to the Observation Deck, where sweeping panoramic views await. This is one experience you shouldn’t skip on your Seoul itinerary.

The gift shop is filled with unique souvenirs you’ll want to take home, and the tower complex also features several restaurants and shops. With so much to see and do, you’ll easily find yourself enjoying plenty of time up here.

Explore the Park

Since you’re already at the top, this is the perfect opportunity to make your way back down on foot, allowing you to fully appreciate the lush greenery of Namsan Park as you descend. The shaded walking paths are peaceful and scenic, offering a refreshing contrast to the busy city below.

Be sure to stop at the panoramic viewing point located about halfway down the trail. It’s easy to miss, but the unrestricted views from here, compared to the enclosed observation deck of the tower, are especially striking. From this open vantage point, the city stretches out before you in every direction.

This is the perfect place to pause, sit on one of the benches, and simply watch the day go by as Seoul hums quietly beneath you.

Visiting Namsan Park was one of the unforgettable highlights of my trip to Seoul. Amid the city’s dazzling skyline and high tech buzz, there’s something quietly magical about standing in a sunlit, leafy park, feeling the calm stretch around you as the city hums below. The panoramic views from N Seoul Tower, the gentle walk down through lush trails, and the little pauses to take it all in made the day feel both peaceful and exhilarating at the same time.

And if you skipped lunch at the top, no worries, heading back down toward Myeongdong is the perfect way to round off your adventure, with the sights, sounds, and flavors of Seoul waiting to welcome you back.
